If your team already keeps instructions for Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Claude or other coding agents, Kody can read them during code review and point out changes that break them.

How it works

Kody reads the instruction files that cover the files a pull request changes. Supported files include:
  • .cursorrules and .cursor/rules/**/*.mdc (Cursor)
  • .github/copilot-instructions.md and .github/instructions/**/*.instructions.md (GitHub Copilot)
  • CLAUDE.md (Claude)
  • AGENTS.md and .agents/rules/** (agents.md convention)
A change that breaks one of them is reported with the Repo Instruction label, quoting the instruction and the file it comes from. The files are never turned into Kody Rules, so they can’t silently change your review policy.

Setting it up

  1. Pick Global or a repository in the scope picker at the top of the Code review group in the sidebar and open What to review
  2. Turn on Coding-agent instructions
  3. The next pull request reviewed in that scope is checked against the instruction files that cover its changes
New workspaces are asked this during onboarding, with the list of coding-agent files found in each repository.

Enforcing a convention on every review

Coding-agent instructions are context: Kody reports a broken one only when it clearly applies to the changed lines. For a convention you want enforced like any other review rule, write it as a Repository Rule in .kody/rules. Rule files sync on merge, one file per rule, exactly as written. For details, see Coding-Agent Instructions.
