Steps
- Create an account at kodus.io or self-host Kodus
- Connect GitLab — in the Connect your Git tool step of onboarding, click Install Gitlab app to authorize via OAuth, or Connect via token (you can also connect later from Repositories in the sidebar)
- Select projects — choose which GitLab projects Kodus should review
- Webhooks — Kodus registers the merge request webhook automatically when you save the selection. If that didn’t happen (for example on some self-hosted installs), add it manually with the GitLab Webhooks guide
- Open a merge request — Kodus reviews it automatically
What you get
- Automated reviews on every MR
- Comments posted directly in the merge request
- Customizable rules, review categories, and a minimum severity threshold
- Business logic validation against linked tasks
Custom configuration
Drop akodus-config.yml in your repo root to customize behavior per project. The file overrides web settings once kodus Config File Overrides Web Preferences is on for that project (Code review → General).
For the full setup guide, see GitLab OAuth and GitLab Webhooks.
